Review CoverMate Food Covers

CoverMateFoodCovers

I was provided a box of Cover Mate Food Covers from CoverMate to review for Mamabuzz. They sent me their Variety Pack which contained 4 medium, 4 large, 2 extra large, and 2 small can covers.

They do fit any shape plate or bowl. They held up well in the microwave and they are reusable. They are easily cleaned in a dishwasher by turning them inside out, placing them over a plate or bottom of a bowl. I however do not have a dishwasher so I found just turning them inside out and washing them with hot soapy water, then placing them in my drain rack to dry did fairly well.

While the video above does show how easy they are to use, I was not real happy with the seal they provided. I did not find them to be as air tight as using plastic wrap. I feel if you are a single person or a couple who do not have a lot of leftovers, these maybe perfect for you. For myself however, I always have a lot of leftovers, and prefer to save space in my refrigerator by being able to stack my containers. Stacking is not easily accomplished with these, well we can say it is impossible to stack containers.

I couldn’t find any use for the can covers, since I do not store anything in a can, nor do I store anything in a glass size container.

I would probably use these if I were taking a pie to a potluck but that would be about the only time I would use them. I do feel they would work great for this use since plastic wrap doesn’t seal tight around a metal pie dish, where these would provide more of a seal and stay on better. I personally would not use them on a daily basis or to replace my bowls with lids.

You can get a Free Sample Pack with a $1.00 off coupon at CoverMate, you will have to pay $3.95 S&H. There is also a list of retailers who carry this product found at this site as well.

I was not paid in anyway for this review. This review is my honest opinion about this product and does not reflect the views of this company or any third party.

This Little Prayer of Mine Book Review and Giveaway

thislittle

From the moment this book came into the house, Selena got her hands on it and I could hardly get it from her to review. This Little Prayer of Mine by AnthonyDeStefano is truly geared for the youngest soul.

“I know you’re up in heaven, God, and can hear my voice from there. I’m just a little child. Will you answer my short prayer?” These two little sentences caught Selena’s attention, and the rest of the book just memorized her.

I like the way that Anthony DeStefano wrote about everything children think of. We’ve all heard their little prayers, “For Puppies, pies, and ice cream,” to What if I am scared, lonely, selfish, or act bad. This book touches every emotion and thought that our little ones go through at any given moment of their day. It is a very simple read with such lovely illustrations that are sure to please the youngest child. This book reminds children that no matter what they pray, the outcome may not be what they desire, and that God truly is the one in control. It also reinforces that no matter what God does listen to them, and loves them always.

I recommend this book for anyone with a child or children. I feel it is a must when teaching children about prayer, and God’s love for them.

Here Burns My Candle By Lizz Curtis Higgs

securedownload

I recently received a copy of Here Burns My Candle by Lizz Curtis Higgs from WaterBrook Multnomah, a division of Random House to read and review. I had never read any of Liz’s books before, so this was a new adventure for me.

Back dropped in a historical era of Scotland and with a parallel to the Book of Ruth, this book truly shows the talents and hard work this author puts into her books. Her research of Scotland, the era in which she is writing about and the biblical factors that she desires to emphasize is tremendous.

Here we find a widowed Mother, her two sons and daughter-in-laws residing in the same house. As war is breaking out in the country we find one daughter-in-law leaving her God to worship a pagan God, a Mother who has put her God on the shelf along with her bible and the other daughter-in-law who can only think of herself.

If you are like me who finds the complete book of Ruth intriguing and one of the best books in the bible about a biblical woman, then you will find this book to be a very good read. Lizz Curtis Higgs is able to entwine all worlds, that historical and biblical and brings them together in such a way that you can not put this book down.

You can purchase this book by going visiting WaterBrook Multnomah.
